Hearthstone heads to Kobolds and Catacombs
Blizzcon 2017 kicked off on Friday with the opening ceremony. Right after that, it was down to business for Blizzard as they announced the new Hearthstone expansion - Kobolds and Catacombs. Hearthstone is Blizzard’s extremely popular collectable card game which is also one of their more popular competitive titles.
Hearthstone, while being free-to-play, does give players the options to purchase card packs and adventures. This also includes expansions, but they’re well worth it. The latest iteration takes us deep into the underground where goblins flourish in their never-ending quest for gold.
Hearthstone game director Ben Brode unveiled the new expansion along with the expected cinematic. He went on to introduce a few new cards from the new expansion including a legendary for anyone who logs in next week. One of the more exciting additions in the next expansion is a new keyword: Recruit. Cards with the keyword will recruit a minion from your deck and put it into play immediately. Every class will also get a legendary weapon, such as the “Dragon Soul” which is a priest legendary and will summon a 5/5 dragon every time a priest casts three spells.
Kobolds and Catacombs will also introduce Dungeons, a new single-player mode. Players will make their own decks and as they defeat the eight bosses they will earn cards for that deck. If you lose, you lose all the cards and the deck gets tossed. The expansion will release in December, so get ready.
